Sunday Times Top 100 UK Cottages - "Just 150 yards from this simple fisherman's cottage is a shingle beach. Nobody goes there, because there are sandy ones nearby, so you'll more or less have it to yourself for sunset walks. There are only three rooms, but the airy open-plan kitchen-cum-sitting room is big enough for long mornings in front of the papers, as well as leisurely suppers, and is warmed by an open fire."

Awel For is a charming little fisherman's cottage on the Cardigan Bay coast near Aberaeron. On a dead-end road, just 150 yards from the sea, the cottage sits virtually in the shadow of the historic church. Cute and romantic, you can come home to an open-log fire and roll-top bath. Immaculately kept inside and out, the chief delight is the little-used beach. Being shingle the tourists spurn it in favour of nearby sandy beaches - which means that you'll often find you get the whole beach just to yourselves.

Bwthyn pysgotwr bach braf ar lan môr bae Ceredigion yw Awel For. Mae’r bwthyn ar ffordd ben-gaead, dim ond 150 llath o'r môr,  fwy neu lai yng nghysgod Eglwys hanesyddol. In Detail

The property is centrally-heating throughout and has Wifi broadband internet

Small entrance lobby with doors left (to bedroom) and right (to Cegin Fawr).

Cegin Fawr - the main room is open to the rafters, with sash windows to the front and side and a small window to the rear. Open-plan living space including the kitchen, lounge with tv, and dining areas.

Kitchen: is in a simple country style with Belfast sink, solid wood counters, fridge, and microwave. No freezer, but the fridge has an ice compartment. Cafetière.

Dining: Table & chairs for four

Double Bedroom - with sash window to the front, and bathroom off to the rear

Bathroom - roll-top double-ended bath and a modern shower cubicle with power shower

Note that if more than 2 stay the bathroom is off the main bedroom. We don't recommend this cottage for 4 adults.

Outside - There is a small seating area with bench to the front inside the stone wall, and a very small enclosed garden to rear with decking and hot tub. The lane to the rear runs alongside the river down to the beach.

Parking (one car) is currently on a patch of land 20m down the lane, that belongs to the cottage or there's further free parking that may suit better near the church.

Travel cot and high chair available on request. Guests to bring own cot bedding.
